Welcome to the second installment of the Jeeves trilogy. It's a little bigger than my previous effort, a little more challenging and- I hope- more enjoyable. The final chapter in the saga of The Dragonfly will appear some time later this year (if I get sufficient feedback concerning this baby).
As before (What Ho! Jeeves) you are cast as the head of security on board a passenger cruise liner, operated by The Company.
The liner, The Dragonfly, is manned by a relatively small compliment of crew, because The Company has installed an AI at the helm. And in the kitchens, the bars, restaurant areas, leisure decks, duty-free shopping malls and so on. The AI, known affectionately as Jeeves, runs just about everything on board, at the behest of The Company.
That's all you need to know as far as background goes.
For maximum effect, the AI terms should be read aloud in a well-spoken, plumy English accent. There should be just the slightest hint of condescension, and a wry gravity should inflect the performance. Think of Alfred the butler in Batman, or Anthony Hopkins in The Remains of the Day.
You'll need to run an Ignore Zero Divides application. Sorry chums.
Once again, many thanks to the authors behind: Phorte 2.14a; Hex!; Marathon 2, and the Phorte Guide (Frigidman-it was a pleasure learning at your elbow) and a special 'ta' to Jeff Isselee, who passed on ample encouragement after my first effort. Shame on all of you who downloaded WHJ, enjoyed it, and didn't even let me know. I aint doing this for the money, you know.
